From Mila Ximénez's death to Belén Esteban's lawsuit against Toño Sanchís: the most controversial moments of 'Sálvame'

Mediaset has decided to put an end to 14 years of Sálvame history. On the afternoon of this Friday, the outcome of the show produced by La fábrica de tele and commanded by Jorge Javier Vázquez, Adela González or Terelu Campos, in addition to their extensive team of collaborators, was known.

Throughout its history, Sálvame has provided its viewers with a multitude of great moments that have given much to talk about, on and off television. Many of them are still well remembered and have even given rise to memes on the Internet and to discussions in the political sphere in Spain.

One of the Mediaset productions with the greatest impact in recent years has undoubtedly been the documentary starring Rocío Carrasco. Rocío, telling the truth to stay alive narrated all the experiences of Rocío Jurado's daughter and was especially commented on for her testimony against Antonio David Flores, who was her partner.

Before its premiere, the former collaborator of Sálvame reacted live to the announcement with a clear threat towards Carrasco: "Have you been paid a lot for this? Have you been paid a lot to tell the truth to stay alive or tell your truth to continue earning money? "He said at the time, to later launch a forceful message:" A storm is coming.

In June 2021, one of the most remembered components in the entire history of Sálvame passed away: Mila Ximénez. The collaborator failed to overcome the lung cancer that had been previously detected, something that caught the program team completely off guard and was forced to improvise a tribute to her start.

Recently, coinciding with the 14th anniversary of the program, Mila has been able to receive a much more complete last goodbye, dedicating the entire celebration to a talk show host who has been present since its first broadcast.

In full confinement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a controversy focused all the attention of Sálvame: a young woman caught naked in a connection with the journalist Alfonso Merlos. After learning that the girl was the reporter Alexia Rivas (Socialité), reactions followed one another when it was learned that Merlos could be cheating on his partner.

Only Antonio Montero, a regular collaborator of Sálvame, came out in defense of the journalist. Although he initially downplayed Merlos's conservative ideology, the commentator ended up constantly alluding to another politician like Pablo Iglesias, something that made Jorge Javier explode: "This program is for reds and fags! Whoever doesn't want to see us shouldn't see us!" he exclaimed at the time.

The "Pay me!" by Belén Esteban is, over the years, one of the expressions linked to Sálvame most deeply rooted in popular culture. The origin of it is in the complaint of the collaborator who was his friend and representative for several years, Toño Sanchís, for the non-payment of some work carried out by Esteban.

Although the amount claimed was around 500,000 euros, Sanchís was finally sentenced to pay more than 600,000 for the damage caused by the delays and the investment that the collaborator had to make in judicial matters.

Although Jorge Javier Vázquez was the first to lead Sálvame in 2009, the program would not take long to find a new presenter for the format: Paz Padilla. The woman from Cádiz took over the reins in a timely manner and became another of the faces most linked to space for many years.

However, Paz's good relationship with the program broke down in March 2022. The presenter was abruptly fired from Mediaset for "breach of her obligation as a presenter" when she left the set "an hour and a half before it ended" on the day January 20 of that year. In addition, the termination of her contract coincided with a controversial controversy surrounding COVID-19 vaccines. It is now that Paz Padilla has officially returned to Mediaset, completely settling the issue surrounding her dismissal.
