Fasting, a broth and little else: the controversial diets of Gwyneth Paltrow and her ex, Chris Martin

Fast until noon, have some soup for lunch and a few vegetables for dinner. It is what Gwyneth Paltrow confessed that she ate normally last week, automatically becoming the protagonist of all the headlines. A statement she made on the Dear Media podcast The Art of Wellness, also adding that her day-to-day life included several hours of exercise.

A restrictive diet that she defends as part of her "anti-inflammatory" healthy lifestyle plan, and that according to her was for medical reasons. Still, she failed to convince her detractors. However, the actress has come up with an unexpected defender of her, her ex-husband, Chris Martin, who has revealed that he is also one of those people who follows an unusual diet.

During his appearance on the Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend podcast, the Coldplay frontman confessed that he followed a strict fasting plan in which he had nothing for dinner. The idea, as he explained, was "given" to him by the singer Bruce Springsteen, who the musician considers that at 73 he is in much better shape than he is.

"I no longer eat anything for dinner. I stop eating at four. I learned it having lunch with Bruce Springsteen," confessed the author of hits like The Scientist.

The British composer went on to explain that he realized how bad he was on a physical level when he attended a Springsteen performance and saw how great The Boss was. Therefore, he did not hesitate to meet him and ask him what his secret was.

"I was already following a strict diet," added Martin, referring to the type of diet that was followed at home while he was married to the Oscar-winning actress, "But seeing him like this... His wife told me that he only ate once a day and I said to myself: 'there you have your next challenge'".

Some statements that, obviously, have not gone down too well with his followers, who have quickly warned of the danger of following this type of diet without strict medical supervision. Some comments that, logically, resurfaced the words of his ex-wife and his restrictive eating habits.

The Oscar winner for Shakespeare In Love is not exactly stranger to controversy, especially in matters related to her habits and empire of well-being; but she herself wanted to clarify her controversial comments a few days later through her Instagram account.

"I think it's important that everyone knows that I was doing a podcast with my doctor," he said, referring to his interlocutor, Dr. Will Cole, "I have COVID with long-term sequelae, and the way it manifests for me is with very high levels of inflammation over time I've been working with Dr. Cole to really focus on foods that are not inflammatory So lots of cooked veggies all kinds of protein and healthy carbs to really bring down the inflammation. It has worked very well," he said.

"It's what's worked for me," he insisted, "This doesn't mean I eat like this all day, every day. And by the way, I eat a lot more than just bone broth and vegetables. I eat full meals, and I also eat I get a lot of days of eating what I want. You know, eating chips and whatever. My bottom line has really been trying to be healthy and eating foods that really calm down the system."
