Edwin Arrieta's parents speak a month after his death: "May God forgive Daniel Sancho, not me"

Last Saturday marked one month after the death of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta. Daniel Sancho has been in prison on Koh Samui, Thailand, since the beginning of August, awaiting trial. The defendant confessed to having killed and dismembered the surgeon, and the police in charge of the investigation are clear that he was premeditated.

This same weekend, the actor Rodolfo Sancho, father of the chef, traveled to the Asian country, accompanied by his lawyer Marcos García Montes. "Now I can't talk, but I will later," he said at the airport. Now, it was Edwin's parents who wanted to offer his first words.

Last Saturday, Edwin Arrieta's family celebrated a mass in honor of his relative. The event took place in Santa Cruz de Lorica, Colombia, and all the residents wanted to support their parents in this hard time for them.

After all, they have wanted to show their faces to demand justice for their son. "These are very hard days, and those that will continue to be," the surgeon's mother began to recount in the Mañaneros de La 1 program. "We are devastated," she continued.

She herself has wanted to make it clear that she cannot eat or sleep due to the death of her son. But, yes, they have a request for those in charge of the investigation in Thailand: "We want Edwin's ashes to give him a Christian burial." With this, they wanted to make it clear, too, that they are going to continue fighting until the last day.

“The only thing I want is that things that are not true are not being said. They are not talking bad about my son. He is dead and the dead respect each other," added the Colombian's mother, visibly affected by what happened. "They broke my family down," the father wanted to point out.

They have also talked about Rodolfo Sancho and Silvia Bronchalo, Daniel's parents. “If she comes to Colombia, I receive her, because she did not know who her son was. I don't blame her, nor her father, because she's not guilty of what her children do. She is also suffering," said the surgeon's mother.

At the end of the interview, Edwin Arrieta's mother wanted to settle the issue with a forceful message to Daniel Sancho. “May God forgive that man Daniel, not me. What he did to her is unforgivable. No matter how bad the person is, they do not have to take their life, because life is only taken by God", she has concluded firmly.
