Dani Alves returns to Neymar's father the money he lent him for his defense

Dani Alves no longer owes any type of debt to Neymar da Silva Santos, father of Neymar Jr., at least as far as is known. The former footballer, convicted in Spain of rape, has already returned the 150,000 euros that the Brazilian lent him to pay for his defense, as his lawyer announced this Wednesday.

"Dani Alves returned the 150,000 euros to Neymar (father) a week ago," confirmed Inés Guardiola in a message sent to the AFP communication agency, without revealing the details of this reimbursement.

The father of the star of the Brazilian national team, Neymar Jr., confirmed last January that he had lent money to Dani Alves to compensate the victim of sexual assault; and that he served as a mitigating circumstance to reduce the sentence to four and a half years. The loan of the money generated great criticism in his native country, Brazil.

Last March, just a month after the former Barça defender was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for the rape committed in December 2022 at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona; The news was leaked in several media outlets that Neymar, through his father, was going to be in charge of paying the million euros set by the Spanish courts to obtain his conditional release.

Both Neymar Santos and the members of his family flatly denied to the press that they were going to make the payment of the bail that the full-back needed to be released on provisional release, since the former footballer would need help to make the payment, having frozen accounts.

"I hope that Daniel finds with his family all the answers he is looking for. For us, for my family, the matter is over. Final point!" Neymar Santos wrote in a statement, which he spread through his social networks.

Finally, Dani Alves was released after paying the million-dollar bail on March 25. The former footballer left Brians II prison, where he had been held since January 2023.

This Wednesday, a Barcelona court rejected the appeals of the prosecution and the civil party against the footballer's release. At the moment, the athlete's possible return to football is a mystery.
