Céline Dion reappears in a film as an actress

Good news for Céline Dion and her fans. If last December the Canadian singer announced that she was forced to cancel the European tour that was to begin in February of this year due to health problems -she suffers from rigid person syndrome, which affects one in every million people-, now is about to show its best face again.

Céline, 55, has put aside the limitations of her illness, which she herself described as causing her muscle spasms, and has found the strength to play her first role in a movie, in addition to creating some of the songs on the soundtrack.

Dion stars as herself in the romantic comedy Love Again, which will be released in theaters across Spain on May 12. The story follows a woman, Mira Ray, played by actress Priyanka Chopra, who has just tragically lost the love of her life. Dejected, she starts texting her deceased partner's old phone number, but it turns out the number has been reassigned to another man, a journalist who lives across town, Rob Burns, played by Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser from Outlander), and who also just suffered a similar heartbreak. When assigned to write an article about megastar Céline Dion, he asks for her help in figuring out how to meet Mira in person...and win her heart.

The artist's music puts the cherry on top of the love story. In total, the soundtrack has 14 songs, which include the Canadian's greatest hits and five unpublished songs, highlighting the main piece Love again. This is Céline's first new music release since ella's 2019 album Courage.

Céline's songs are woven into the film's narrative and its characters. The protagonist, Sam Heughan, in a recent interview with People magazine, stated that "Céline's music, in a way, unites the two characters." And Priyanka Chopra added that Love Again is "our ode to Celine."

At the moment, Celine Dion has shared the video clip of the song that gives title to her new hit Love Again. "You don't have to move a mountain, just keep moving. Each movement is a new emotion. You don't have to find the answers, just keep trying," she sings in this new professional challenge, where she sends an important message of hope.

And the trailer has also been advanced, in which the interpreter of My heart will go on can be seen as a true guru of love: "It's crazy, but love has its own rules." From her time in the film, Céline Dion has stated that she had a lot of fun. "And to have the privilege of appearing with the beautiful and talented actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sam Heughan in my first feature film is a gift that I will cherish forever. I think it's a wonderful feel-good story, and I hope people like it, and also like the new songs."

This overflowing with illusion Céline seems to leave behind her poor health streak that culminated last December, when she, broken with pain, had to cancel her European tour scheduled for this year. She herself explained that she suffers from a rare neurological pathology, called stiff person syndrome, which affects the central nervous system and is characterized by episodes of stiffness and spasms of the muscles of the trunk and of the arms and legs.

Unable to suppress tears, Dion explained in two videos shared on her social networks that "the spasms affect all aspects of my life, sometimes they even make it difficult for me to walk and they also do not allow me to use my vocal cords as I used to." Dion canceled the European tour that she had planned to start in February 2023. Specifically, she rescheduled some concerts for 2024 and others were directly suspended.

Now, thanks to the help of doctors and her family, she has been able to sing again. "All I know how to do, what I've done in my life and what I love the most is to sing," she said, through tears, when she announced her retirement from the stage.

The singer is the mother of three boys: René-Charles (born in 2001) and the twins Eddy and Nelson, in 2010. They are the result of her marriage to René Angélil, who died in 2016. The producer was the true love of his life. “He was the first and only man to kiss me. He was the man of my life, my partner... We were one. Maybe that's why when he left, when he stopped suffering, I told myself that he was fine, that he didn't deserve to continue suffering. But I love him. I am still in love with him, although my life is not empty of love: I have my children and my audience. However, before I go to sleep, I imagine that he is by my side, that I sleep with him, that we are still married… ”, she confessed after his death.
