Britney Spears reveals that medication turned her into the party girl of 2000 along with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan: "I wasn't like that"

Britney Spears continues to drop bomb after bomb ahead of the imminent publication of her memoir, The Woman In Me. An autobiography in which the singer opens up and tells what those years were like in which she experienced her absolute fame as a pop star, but also her darker side, her abuse and the incessant media harassment of her.

She speaks at length about the press precisely when referring to the image she projected in the 2000s. The singer was considered quite the party animal, becoming the favorite of the paparazzi along with her friends Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan for all occasions. crazy things they did on their eternal nights of partying. However, although her companions have admitted to using drugs or alcohol during that time, Britney assures that this was not her case, and that it was all due to medication.

As Britney reveals in her biography, at that time she had been prescribed a drug that is primarily used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). However, she soon noticed that the medication made her "less sad" in her depressed state and, coupled with the fact that she could freely acquire it by having it prescribed, it became her downfall.

If this medication is taken inappropriately, it can have important health consequences. However, some people purposely take large amounts of this type of medication to feel a euphoric 'high', as was the case with Spears.

"I was never as wild as the press wanted to make me out to be," says the artist about that time, insisting that she never had problems with other substances. "It gave me a high, but I found it much more appealing because it gave me a few hours of feeling less depressed."

The medication also causes a terrible addiction.

The singer does not remember that time exactly fondly, because according to her, her parents became even stricter at that time. Last year, the artist recalled how her mother, Lynne Spears, had slapped her hard precisely for one of these nights out with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

"The first time I got slapped was one night when Lindsay and Paris took me home," she confessed on Instagram, "My mom was babysitting my kids, I got there at four in the morning and she was pissed. She looked at me and hit me so hard. strong that I will never forget it.

Coupled with this terrible addiction, the singer added the habit of taking another antidepressant medication, in order to try to forget the end of her three-year relationship with Justin Timberlake. The couple of artists began dating in 1999, and according to the singer, they were expecting a baby that they aborted a year later. After this "agonizing" episode, the singer remembers how she closed herself off and how she was "out of her mind", which over the years would lead her to suffer the consequences of it.
