Alexander García Galas and his wife, Usoa Martínez, never imagined that their idyllic vacation to Thailand would turn into the worst of their nightmares. "We are in a horror movie," the woman forcefully assured Telecinco News a few days ago.

An escape of less than two weeks that ended with García Salas, 36, admitted in serious condition to a Bangkok hospital with acute pancreatitis and risk of suffering "severe internal bleeding." In Thailand, Alexander's mother and brother; in Donostia, her home, Usoa with the couple's children, who "ask all the time" about her father.

A father who, unfortunately, they have not seen since February 19, when they went on vacation. Alexander García was already feeling stomach discomfort, but a doctor in Spain attributed this discomfort to possible "gas" before leaving.

However, he continued to feel unwell during his vacation. On her fifth day, she was admitted to a Bangkok hospital in serious condition due to "unbearable" pain. There, he was directly transferred to the ICU with "30% necrotizing pancreatitis of biliary origin," his cousin and family spokesperson, Janire Galas, told EFE.

The family has tried to have him repatriated to Spain on two occasions, both attempts have been unsuccessful. They have coverage of 100,000 for their travel insurance, which is no longer enough.

The first time they tried it was on March 20. Unfortunately, the San Sebastian native's health was too delicate to be able to face the hard journey of more than 14 hours to Spain. His condition "grew much worse," and the captain said he was "unfit to fly."

On April 12, they tried again, with a private air ambulance that cost them 221,000 euros. Despite having the relevant permits, the trip was rejected. According to his wife, "they said that the patient was more critical than the medical reports said and they left him on the ground."

The family desperately asks for help to be able to transfer García to Spain. They do not have financial resources and he is getting worse in Bangkok. He assures that they have even spoken with the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, because a plane from the Aeroevacuation Medical Unit of the Air Force (UMAER) is the only possibility for him.
