A survivor of the Teatre nightclub fire shows the moment it started: "Fireballs were falling"

The fire at the Fonda Milagros, Teatre and Golden nightclubs, which occurred early last Sunday in Murcia, continues to generate new details for the media and the investigation in dribs and drabs. The death toll is 13 people, 6 of whom managed to escape to the upper part of the Fonda before dying, presumably from smoke inhalation. A tragedy of which the first images can now be seen.

A survivor of the incident spoke this morning with the Espejo Público program on Antena 3, showing a video in which the start of the fire in Teatre is captured. During the interview, new details emerged about the events that the program team tried to contrast with the affected person. Between them, they were able to specify the time the flames started and who was in charge of trying to put out the fire in the first instance.

The video lasts just under a minute and shows DJ Javi Boss' remember show, from the dance floor to its surroundings. The images stop at the precise moment that one of the ventilation ducts, to the left of the stage, begins to spit fire in small quantities. A person can be seen spraying the flames with a fire extinguisher, before the video ends. This is already at the disposal of the scientific police, according to Susanna Griso.

Together with David, the author of the clip, the program team has been able to check the exact time of the recording: 5:58 in the morning, four minutes before the fateful time indicated by the Murcia police. It was the moment when, according to investigations, a short circuit occurred between the room's wiring and some cold fire cannons on the set. Immediately, flames spread through the speaker and up the stage, creating a screen of smoke.

“What I saw was the man with the fire extinguisher throwing it at the fire and then I saw a flame coming down,” David commented, before being evacuated along with the rest of the attendees who were still in the nightclub. As pointed out in Espejo Público, the person who carried the fire extinguisher with him was one of the DJs hired for the event, not a person from the security team. “Everyone said: get out, get out! And I got hooked on the avalanche,” said the witness.

Her witness agrees with that of other people who were affected by the fire: “We were in the box with three other friends and suddenly very black smoke began to come out.” Similarly, Fonda Remedios' lawyer also pointed out that the fire was generated in Teatre, not in his client's premises: “The fire started in the Teatre room, and it is worth seeing the images. “We have seen the two cold fire cannons in Teatre pointing at the ceiling.”
