What is the hidden lever of the interior mirror of the car for?

TikTok has become a social phenomenon in a very short time. With a fast and easy to consume content format, with short videos from 15 to 60 seconds, the application has managed to captivate millions of users around the world. Its popularity transcends borders, as it offers a wide variety of content that ranges from dances and challenges, to comedy, makeup, cooking, music, cars and more, catching an increasingly heterogeneous audience.

As we have already seen in previous posts on this channel, tips and tricks related to everything related to the world of mobility are not a rare sight among tiktokers. Thanks to your publications we have discovered some features that cars offer and that most users are unaware of, as well as tricks to perform certain maneuvers behind the wheel.

From Moveo, we have seen how a tiktoker explains what the hatch that the cars have hidden next to the bumper is for. We have also echoed the explanation that another user of the social network offers about the function that has a small stopper located in the car door that she had discovered by chance, just to cite a couple of examples.

On this occasion, a user of the social network known as everythingbrooklyn surprises us and shares a fascinating discovery through her account. In a video of just a few seconds, the woman reveals the purpose and hidden function of the button that is discreetly located at the bottom of the car's rear view mirror.

This seemingly insignificant detail, which often goes unnoticed by many drivers, turns out to be a mystery revealed to those who were completely unaware of its existence. It is actually an anti-glare system, which allows you to vary the position of the mirror so that we are not blinded by the poorly regulated lights of the vehicle behind or the sun's rays that enter us through the rear window.

Using the mirror button, which some manufacturers replace with a small tab, we can vary the angle of the mirror. In this way we will be able to avoid glare, which is so dangerous behind the wheel, since it can cause us to lose control of the vehicle for a few moments.

Glare causes extreme contraction of the pupil that can lead to eye discomfort and momentary loss of vision. These effects can have potentially fatal consequences when driving, so it is essential to take steps to prevent them.

Among the most common glare we find those that occur when leaving tunnels or similar dark sections and those that take place at night or in low visibility situations. Likewise, we can also suffer from dazzling when the vehicle behind us changes its headlights from short to long range or due to reflections from the sun on other vehicles or building facades.

In order to avoid glare, the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) advises adopting preventive measures, such as wearing sunglasses with tinted blue polarized lenses. However, it is important to keep in mind that we should not use them at night or in tunnels. In addition, the DGT also suggests using the sun visors at specific times, remembering to fold them when they are no longer necessary so as not to limit the field of vision.
