Every year thousands of motorcycle fans travel to Jerez at this time to celebrate the Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix. Not only do they come from many different places in our country, but they also come from abroad. During these days, the municipality of Cádiz becomes a hornet's nest for motorists. For this reason, the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) deploys a special device to guarantee the safety and fluidity of circulation, as well as control the behavior of drivers during their journeys.
The operation, active this season between April 27 and 30, has the collaboration of the area councils and other Administrations. During the aforementioned four days, the DGT will intensify control from the air on the routes most traveled by fans who travel to Jerez to avoid risky behavior.
Likewise, special surveillance points of the Civil Guard Traffic Group will be established in Andalusia, Ciudad Real and Badajoz, where special attention will be paid to the use of a helmet and seat belt, speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and illegal overtaking, reckless or negligent driving. In those places there will be about 450 civil guards.
In the zone of influence of the celebration of the circuit, the Unit of Air Resources of the DGT will carry out tasks of surveillance and regulation of the circulation with helicopters and drones. Night surveillance flights will be carried out, as well as the reporting of all kinds of infractions, including speed, through image recording.
The maximum speed at which you can drive will also be monitored automatically by the fixed and section speed cameras installed on the road. In addition, the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard will establish surveillance points in the morning, afternoon and night periods to guarantee compliance with the established speed limits, and will increase from this Thursday alcohol and drug controls in the vicinity of the circuit to discourage consumption and driving.
In a complementary way, the Grand Prix weekend coincides with the end of the Seville Fair, so the DGT will pay special attention to surveillance actions on the communication routes between both events.
It will also pay special attention to its coincidence with the Special Operation for the festivity of May 1, especially on the access and exit roads of the Jerez Circuit such as the AP-4.
The operation is also aimed at facilitating the circulation of vehicles whose journey is destined for Jerez, indicating the most advisable routes for a smoother and safer circulation.
These measures will be applied to the main roads that, from the entire Peninsula, lead to the Circuito de Jerez, generally within a radius of 300 to 400 kilometers from this destination point and with particular incidence on:

To access the Circuit, the use of existing public transport options is recommended, especially access by urban bus from the town of Jerez de la Frontera.
As a complement to the special device, the DGT will disseminate messages on social networks (Twitter, Facebook and YouTube) to both motorcyclists and drivers of other vehicles reminding them of the need to drive prudently and with respect between vehicles that share a same space to circulate.
