The TecnoCampus will host the Seventh Edition of the Recuwaste Congress in November

The Mataró TecnoCampus will once again host the Recuwaste International Congress this year, which will celebrate its seventh edition on November 14 and 15. This event, organized by the Maresme Waste Consortium and with the academic support of the TecnoCampus Circular Economy Chair, has become a benchmark in the field of circular economy and waste management.

The congress has the support of the TecnoCampus Circular Economy Chair, which aims to promote research, development and dissemination of the circular economy. "Offering academic support to the event shows the confidence we have in the importance of Recuwaste", values Sònia Llorens, director of the Chair.

The Chair itself will be in charge of moderating the Innovation Corner, which will focus on Industry 4.0 as a key element to accelerate the circularity of production and consumption models, as well as to transform waste into resources. This initiative seeks to address the challenges posed by the fourth industrial revolution and how it can be essential to move towards a sustainable development model.

Llorens also highlights the public-private collaboration "to make the excellence of this congress possible". As he explains, the event has an advisory committee made up of experts in the field, who collaborate closely with the Fundació Fòrum Ambiental, the scientific secretariat of the congress.

Recuwaste 2023 will bring together national and international experts who will share their knowledge and experiences on the innovative technologies that are transforming waste management around the world. The objective is to promote the transition towards a circular and sustainable economy, where waste is considered a valuable resource. In addition, the impact of the current resource and energy crisis will be addressed and how public institutions are implementing policies and legislation that favor circularity, such as plastic management, decarbonization and new economic instruments linked to Industry 4.0.

The congress will feature two inspiring conferences on growth and well-being, and entrepreneurship and innovation, which will enrich discussions on the future of waste management. In addition, the event will include a music concert to foster an atmosphere of collaboration and exchange of ideas.

Another outstanding initiative of the congress is the Alfonso Maíllo award, which recognizes the most innovative work on waste management. The prize, endowed with €1,000, will be awarded to the best work presented in poster form and in an oral presentation before the audience. The public will have an active role in choosing the winner, since they will be the ones who vote to choose the best project. The deadline for the presentation of solutions and projects is until September 30, 2023.

The ten most outstanding works selected by the Waste Consortium, the TecnoCampus Circular Economy Chair and other experts will be exhibited during the congress and will also appear in the Recuwaste 2023 catalogue. In addition, the authors of the awarded works will have free access to the congress and they will be able to establish synergies with the TecnoCampus and the Chair of Circular Economy and Sustainability, participating in contests, advisory programs, dynamics to create networks and financing sessions.
