The Peugeot 508 launches a 180 HP plug-in hybrid version

The definitive implementation of SUVs has generated a drastic reduction in the prominence of segments that were fundamental in other times. However, D-segment sedans like the Peugeot 508 still resist and stand as excellent alternatives for those who want an elegant, dynamic car that offers great driving pleasure.

The Peugeot 508 begins a second phase of its current generation and does so by maintaining the two body types, fastback and SW, combined with three trim levels called Allure, GT and PSE, the latter developed by the brand's Competition Department.

The sedan from the French manufacturer stands out for its elegance and dynamism, based on sporty lines that are combined with a striking aesthetic, in which new colors and materials are introduced. The main new features focus on the front of the vehicle, with the presence of the new Lion emblem in the center of the grille.

The emblems and logos of the 508 adopt the brand's new typography in a basalt gray color that projects modernity and elegance. In the 508 PSE version, the grill adopts a textured gloss black tone under a hood that features the three Kryptonite-colored claws, responsible for identifying the sportiest version of the model.

The new Peugeot 508 range incorporates as standard a new Matrix LED lighting system, in which the three claws of the lion can be distinguished in the headlights. This motif is also present in the rear LED lights, which incorporate dynamic turn signals. Of the seven colors available, three of them are new: White Okenite, Eclipse Blue and Titanium Gray. For its part, the gray Selenium is now available in all versions of the model.

The Peugeot i-Cockpit continues to be one of the strong points of the 508. The steering wheel sports the new shield in the center and houses the multimedia system controls and the volume and voice controls. The digital panel has a 12-inch screen and the instrument panel is customizable with new display modes that can be changed from the steering wheel.

The central touch screen is 10 inches and is slightly oriented towards the driver. The piano keys below the screen remain to offer direct access to the main menu and both the center console and the gear selector have a new design. The hybrid versions add a button to activate regenerative braking and the driving mode selector allows you to choose the electric, Eco, hybrid, normal, sport and 4x4 position, depending on the engine.

The new infotainment system is called Peugeot i-Connect Advanced with wireless smartphone replication function and it is possible to connect two at the same time. The central screen is customizable and the system is equipped with TomTom connected navigation. The 508 has four USB sockets, two USB-C and two USB-A.

The 508 is equipped with a complete range of driving aids, including adaptive cruise control with Stop function.

The French sedan stands out for its optimal behavior and the PSE version adds optimized variable damping, lowered ride height, wider tracks, 380 mm diameter front brake discs with four-piston calipers and 20-inch wheels and tires.

The main novelty in the mechanical offer is the availability of a 180 e-EAT8 plug-in hybrid engine, a combination of a 150 HP PureTech gasoline engine with an 81 kW electric motor, coupled to the 8-speed automatic gearbox. This option, which has a 12.4 kWh battery, joins the existing 225 and 360 HP ones. The charger is single-phase 3.7 kW and, as an option, it can be 7.4 kW.

The 508 range is completed with two internal combustion engines, a PureTech 130 EAT8 gasoline and a BlueHdi 130 EAT8 diesel. Both develop 130 HP of power and are equipped with an automatic transmission as standard.
