The new FP, hope for the recovery of youth employment in Spain

Job search is not an easy matter for young Spaniards. Spain leads the ranking of European countries with the highest youth unemployment rate in the entire European Union, with almost 30 out of every 100 citizens under 25 years of age. This is, without a doubt, worrying data that alarms institutions and the economic society of our country.

With the intention of reversing the situation and applying policies that help generate employment in this group, the Government of Spain has promoted the new Vocational Training (FP) law, which aims to modernize the system and increase collaboration with companies and universities to reduce youth unemployment. In this sense, the dualization of FP becomes a study modality that aims to combine theoretical training in an educational center with practical activity in a workplace.

The latest FP Analysis prepared by the CaixaBank Dualiza Knowledge and Innovation Center in collaboration with Orkestra Basque Institute of Competitiveness, analyzes the two Vocational Training models to determine the most relevant variables, such as job placement, monetary compensation or working conditions obtained after the studies. Thus, the x-ray obtained is very clear, 57% of dual vocational training students found employment within a year of finishing their studies, compared to 42% of those who came from non-dual vocational training.

To bring the importance of this study model closer to public opinion, La Vanguardia will offer a round table via streaming to bring viewers of lavanguardia.com closer to how society is preparing for the new Vocational Training. For this, it will have the participation of Ricard Ballera, Secretary of Labor and Economy of CCOO de Catalunya; Josep Ramon Domingo, FP coordinator of the Consorci d'Educació de Barcelona; Ricard Guillem, Territorial Coordinator of the Valencian Community, Catalonia, Murcia and the Balearic Islands of CaixaBank Dualiza; and Sílvia Miro, director of the PIMEC Work Area. All of them will contribute their point of view and the keys to contribute to the development and promotion of quality VET in Spain and, thus, promote recovery. The act will be moderated by the journalist Enric Freire.

The event, which will take place on June 15, will begin at 10 a.m. and will last approximately one hour. It can be followed through the newspaper's website, at www.lavanguardia.com
