The legendary Corvette from six decades ago that has not lost a bit of its character

There are many models that have earned a privileged place in the American history of the automobile but, if we had to highlight a convertible sports car with an indisputable history, it is evident that the Chevrolet Corvette would occupy one of the first positions in this classification. If we look back to 1966, we will see that this vehicle stood out for being a true sales success.

That year, almost 10,000 convertible units were manufactured which, over the years, have become icons of the North American world of four wheels. The specimen that you can see in the photographs is one of those units, which stands out for how well it has withstood the passage of time, not only for its general state of conservation after almost six decades, but also for having maintained almost all of its original components. .

Among these elements, this Corvette, from a private collection, preserves the 327 engine that came as standard. It is a 5.4-liter V8 engine with 300 HP of power that demonstrates the importance that the Chevrolet firm has always given to its flagship in the sports segment. The vehicle's transmission system is also original, as is the gear lever itself.

This example has spent most of its time parked safely and, throughout its history, it has not been used much. This explains both its good condition and its low mileage considering that it left the factory in 1966. In fact, it has traveled about 83,000 kilometers, a low figure for a car that is almost sixty years old.

Among the few relatively recent additions to the car are a new clutch and a new aluminum radiator. This American sports car is going to be auctioned soon and, thanks to its good condition, it can reach a price close to 50,000 euros.

It is evident that this is not a prohibitive price, as is the case with many other cars of the era. One of the main reasons for this being the case is, without a doubt, the reasonable number of units of specimens from those years that have reached our days in a considerable state of conservation.

In this specific case, as the current owner assures, it is striking how well the years have done most of the car's components. And even when checking the underside of the vehicle you can see the care taken in the conservation of this Corvette over the decades by its various previous owners.

If you are interested in enjoying in even more detail a model as emblematic as the Corvette convertible from the second half of the 60s of the last century, you just have to take a look at the video that accompanies this article.
