The compact folding electric moped that fits in the trunk of the car

Back in 1981, Honda put up for sale a small folding motorcycle that was baptized as Motocompo, designed to fit in the trunk of a compact car. This idea has influenced the design of subsequent alternatives and has even reached the present, with the arrival of the new M One, developed by the Chinese firm Felo.

The brand has presented its new and lightweight folding electric moped at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2023, held just a few days ago. The truth is that it resembles an updated and futuristic version of the commented Honda model from the 80s. And the fact is that the M One also stands out for its minimalist design that allows you to "hide" both the handlebars and the seat and footrests.

The new Asian moped is designed for daily short-distance journeys, which is why it can be a complementary alternative to the car for those who live far from the city where they work. To be able to locate the small vehicle inside a car, its size is key, as it measures 1.15 meters long and, when folded, only 58.3 cm high.

The most recent developments in the segment of alternative electric two-wheelers have not only focused on providing performance and range, but also on making urban mobility practical, as is the case with this new moped.

The vehicle features a structure made of magnesium and aluminum alloy in order to make it lighter and stronger. It should also be noted that the moped has a one-sided swingarm. The firm Felo has provided the M One with different anchor points to expand its possibilities in terms of possible modular accessories, such as auxiliary lighting.

This novelty weighs only 37 kg and has an aesthetic of quadrangular shapes but with a modern air at the same time. The M One moves thanks to a 400 W electric motor, powered by a 48V and 20Ah lithium-ion battery. The manufacturer ensures that the vehicle will provide an estimated autonomy close to 100 km with each recharge.

Among the interesting features of the M One is its ability to recharge other devices. And it is that its battery is designed to be able to charge, for example, mobile phones or laptops. Despite the compact size of this curious folding moped, it is also capable of transporting a backpack, as well as different objects thanks to its luggage rack.

For now, only the price that the M One will have in the Japanese market is known, where it will be around 2,600 euros. The first units will be delivered to the owners during the last quarter of this year. If you are interested in knowing the folding mechanism of the vehicle, you just have to take a look at the video that accompanies this article.
