There is no other McLaren F1 like this and that is why it costs more than 18 million

From time to time, motorsport fans receive news that allows them to dream for a moment about the possibility of acquiring collectible pieces or authentic automotive rarities. This is the case of the only existing example of the McLaren F1 supercar in Creighton Brown, which will go on sale in an online auction on May 15.

But this is not the only thing that makes this car so special; also the fact that it has not even traveled 400 km during its “life”, something truly extraordinary.

What became the perfect supercar during the 1990s arose from the talent of legendary racing car designer Gordon Murray, who convinced then-McLaren owner Ron Dennis to build a road car inspired by the incredible cars. of F1. And he achieved it, with the help of designer Peter Stevens, resulting in one of the best supercars of the last forty years.

The McLaren F1 is one of the few vehicles that offer attractive sporty looks, excellent performance and best-in-class handling. The model first left the British brand's production line in 1992 and, until 1998, only 64 units of the 106 produced would end up circulating on the roads.

Its exterior aesthetics, which do not go out of fashion despite the three decades that have passed since its birth, are characterized by marked sporty lines, a bubble-shaped cabin and butterfly-wing type doors. Its athletic stance, along with advanced mechanics, exalted it as one of the most attractive supercars in the history of motorsports.

The F1 was also the first road car with a carbon fiber monocoque chassis that mounted a 6.1-liter BMW V12 mid-engine with 618 hp and 649 Nm of torque. All this power was transmitted to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Thanks to this and its lightweight structure, it was able to reach a maximum speed of 386 km/h, which made it the fastest production vehicle in the world for several years.

This particular example that is now up for sale is the only one that left the factory in the metallic Creighton Brown color. The interior is covered in Light Tan and Brazilian Brown, a color combination that perfectly matches the exterior tone. In addition, it includes all the original accessories: a personalized suitcase set, a Facom toolbox and an exclusively made TAG Heuer 6000 chronometer.

Considered a true work of art, this particular car was originally exported to Japan, but later ended up in the United States, where it will go on sale in the middle of this month. Due to its high historical value and special characteristics, the prestigious auction house Sotheby's expects it to reach a price close to 20 million euros. In the following video you can learn more details about this unique example of the McLaren F1.
