Tourists who visit Maresme reward the gastronomic experience, positioning the bars and restaurants in the region at a very high level. This is demonstrated by the Monitor of tourist experience and online reputation of companies and resources of 2023, where the gastronomic sector has obtained an 8.88 out of 10 according to the sector benchmark iRON Online Reputation Index.
This indicator reaches 8.96 in the specific case of specific mentions of the food consumed, proof of the excellence of Maresme as a gastronomic tourism destination. A selection of establishments that are part of the Sabors Maresme project, promoted by the Costa del Maresme Tourist Promotion Consortium, have been taken as a reference.
It is the first time that the culinary field is detailed in depth in the online reputation monitor. It has been detected that among the 15 most repeated words during the summer of 2023 at a gastronomic level, many of them mention the professionalism received, with comments that recurrently include concepts such as “service”, “personal”, “attention” and "gentle".
The beaches of the region are also great attractions, according to data from the third edition of the report carried out by the Costa del Maresme Tourism Promotion Consortium with the collaboration of the company Viviential Value, specialized in innovation in tourism intelligence. The different golden sand beaches and small coves of the Maresme obtain a rating of 8.61.
In relation to the qualitative analysis of tourists' opinions, it is worth noting that the two adjectives that are most repeated are “clean” and “quiet”, which appear within opinions with global ratings above 9.
The accommodations, which receive tens of thousands of opinions during the period analyzed, improve in several indicators of competitiveness and sustainability, both in terms of overall satisfaction, with an iRON close to 8 points, and also due to the consolidation one year more from foreign tourists, who issue 56% of the total new opinions in the summer of 2023, with a wide variety of issuing markets that guarantee less dependence on a single market.
Special mention to the staff who attended to the visitors and clients of the Maresme accommodations as the variable that stands out the most in online opinions and with a higher score for the establishments, achieving a reputation index of 8.81.
In this monitor, more than 60,000 new opinions shared by visitors on the Internet during the summers of 2023 and 2022 have been collected and analyzed, in relation to more than 250 resources, including accommodations, beaches and restaurants, taking as reference the comments issued in Booking, Google and Tripadvisor.
These new data have been incorporated into a dynamic viewer, as the basis of a potential “SIT”, Tourist Intelligence System, which already accumulates more than 130 opinions for the different editions carried out between 2019 and 2023, which links directly to the governance from the data and knowledge led by the Costa del Maresme Tourist Promotion Consortium within its competitiveness and sustainability strategy for tourism activity in the regional territory. Along these lines, the Consorci has carried out different actions to transfer this high-value knowledge for companies and municipalities.
