Promote sports tourism, the new asset of the Valencian Community in Fitur

In what is presented, according to the Minister of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Nuria Montes, as "the most important year in terms of tourism", the Valencian Community plays one more card and that is sports tourism. The Valencian region participates this year for the first time in Fitur Sports, a novelty in the event that Ifema will host next week, to present itself as an ideal space to celebrate sporting events. There will be its own work agenda with operators and organizers of sporting events in a sector that Tourism describes as "growing importance."

Examples such as the Valencia Marathon, held in the middle of December, are a clear example. "If there is a product that exemplifies deseasonalization, it is sport and many municipalities already know it," Montes explained this morning at the press conference, which brought together about 200 people at Feria Valencia, including the press and tourist agents.

Along with the new participation in Fitur Sports, the 2024 edition of Fitur also brings a change in the tourist claim: From "Live Mediterranean" we move to "Mediterranean Attitude", a message that focuses on "what differentiates us, which "It is aligned with all the objectives of the Valencian Government and with the sustainability objectives," added the counselor.

In addition to Fitur Sports, the Valencian Community will also be at Fitur Screen, as it did last year. Then the proposal for the recovery of Ciudad de la Luz was presented, this year the Alicante audiovisual complex will now have its own table in the space located in Pavilion 10. Likewise, the commitment to Fitur LGTB is maintained, a market in which "they value what we do in the Valencian Community in an important way," said Montes.

The Valencian stand at the Madrid tourism fair, which will be held from January 24 to 28 at Ifema, will have more than 500 co-exhibitors, more than 260 companies and entities (up to 20 technology companies) and 30 music festivals that expand the footage of their own spaces compared to the previous year. The budget for their participation is 1,200,000 euros, between the cost of the stand and the ground, which Ifema has increased by up to 6%.

"We are facing the largest edition, it will be the Fitur of records and it is everyone's responsibility to manage it," stated the councilor, who was preceded by the head of the promotion and marketing area, Carmen Sahuquillo, giving an account of the details of the event. in its last edition, when the Valencian Community had 222,0000 attendees, a figure that is expected to be exceeded. In the Valencian exhibition space, up to 180 activities are scheduled to work on the common project of turning the Valencian Community into "one of the main national and international tourist destinations," highlighted Sahuquillo.
