New 7-year warranty for Dacias: you can also request it even if yours is old

The Dacia Sandero was the best-selling car in Spain in 2023. It is not the first time that the low-cost model manages to lead the registration ranking; It also did so in 2020. Without a doubt, the price is one of the arguments that convinces consumers to decide to buy it. And now they will have another interesting one: the company has extended the warranty on its vehicles to 7 years or 150,000 kilometers (whichever comes first). Thus, it has become the first European automobile brand to offer such long coverage, without any added cost for the customer.

This doesn't mean it's the only one to do so: Lexus and Toyota provide up to a decade of coverage; Kia and MG, 7 years; while Hyundai, Mitsubishi or SsangYong have a five-year warranty. There are companies that allow you to extend coverage optionally, but this comes at a price. Such is the case, for example, of Seat. The Martorell firm sells the so-called "Seat Confidence" package which, in addition to a 10-year warranty, includes 5 years of maintenance. It is paid at the time of purchasing the car and costs 1,000 euros (if you only want the guarantee, it costs 500 euros).

Until now, the Dacia range had a 3-year factory warranty; With the Zen program it is extended to seven, as long as the customer maintains the car on the brand's official network. The operation is simple, the warranty extension is renewed for 12 months or 30,000 kilometers each time the vehicle undergoes the annual maintenance check at a brand center. Something similar is what Toyota and Lexus do, which reward the loyalty of their customers with the extension of coverage up to ten years, if they carry out maintenance in their official workshops.

The interesting thing about the Zen service is that not only vehicles sold from 2024 onwards can benefit, but also all those sold in the last six years. Thus, owners of examples of the brand up to six years old or with less than 120,000 kilometers can extend their warranty up to 7 years. This also includes those customers who are no longer under warranty or who have not performed maintenance on the official network (but have followed the brand's recommendations to prevent any failure). The brand has calculated that there are more than 300,000 customers who can request it.

The general director of Dacia Spain, Francisco Hidalgo, explained that “With the launch of Zen, a new guarantee of up to 7 years, Dacia continues its transformation by offering a brand promise, which provides value during the life cycle of the vehicle, increasing its residual value and transmitting lasting peace of mind to the client. “This new proposal is 100% consistent with our brand,”
