Lancia unveils the new Ypsilon, the Italian luxury compact that is manufactured in Zaragoza

Lancia has presented the new Ypsilon, the model with which it returns to the European market. Although, last December, the accident of one of the pre-series examples without camouflage that was in the testing phase revealed the design of some parts of the car, now we have seen it in all its fullness. And it really is a beautiful and glamorous car, one of those that sets style wherever they go.

Inspired by the aesthetic features of the Pu Ra HPE prototype, this compact model is built on the same Stellantis group modular platform that has been used in the Opel Corsa and the Peugeot 208, which are produced at the Zaragoza plant, where it will also be manufactured. the Ypsilon.

Lancia has decided to start marketing the car with a series limited to 1,906 units - this figure refers to the year the company was founded. This version, which costs 39,650 euros, is called Cassina because the Italian furniture brand of the same name has participated in the design of some details and the choice of materials and colors. In fact, this same firm collaborated in the creation of the interior of the Pu Ra HPE prototype.

The launch variant of the Ypsilon is electric, but the brand plans to expand the range later with a gasoline mild hybrid alternative that develops 100 HP (already offered, for example, in the Jeep Avenger). The zero-emissions option has a 115 kW electric motor (equivalent to 156 HP) and a 54 kWh battery, which offers an approved range of up to 403 kilometers. According to the brand, with a socket of 100 kW maximum power, it can be recharged from 20 to 80% in just 24 minutes. And in ten minutes you can obtain the energy necessary to travel a hundred kilometers.

The Lancia Ypsilon has dimensions similar to those of the Corsa and the 208. It measures 4.08 meters in length; 1.76 meters wide and 1.44 m high. The wheelbase reaches 254 centimeters. The trunk has a loading capacity of 309 liters, which rises to 352 liters in the internal combustion versions.

In the cabin there is a type of coffee table located in the middle of the console that serves as Lara's wireless charging for mobile devices. The instrument panel screen is 10.15 inches, the same as that of the infotainment system, which has the Lancia SALA interface, which, among other things, allows you to adapt the interior environment of the car (music, climate and lighting) to the driver's mood.

The seats in the limited edition Cassina are very luxurious. They are upholstered in recycled blue velvet with double ribbing and the driver's seat is electric, with heating and ventilation and with massage.

The new Lancia Ypsilon marks the return of the brand to Europe, where it will progressively open dealerships. The first two countries in which Lancia will return are Belgium and the Netherlands. Spain and France will follow later. In our country, between 2024 and 2025, the brand plans to have 16 dealerships in the main Spanish cities.
