From clumsy to genius: this is the bias that distorts our perception

In this video Professor Pablo Foncillas addresses the fundamental attribution bias. "This bias makes us tend to think that a person's actions are a unique and exclusive consequence of their way of being, and we do not take into account other factors that may be occurring around them," says the researcher. For example, if a friend has fallen in the street it is because he is a clumsy and not because the floor was wet or a tile was loose...

This bias makes us believe that others are the clumsy ones, since when it happens to us we do not apply it, blaming external factors. Bias acts in other types of situations and always with the same result: when it affects one, things change.
