De Antonio Yachts doubles its turnover to 40 million

"It's a good time for sailing," says Marc de Antonio, the founder of the De Antonio Yachts shipyard, while the sun makes the mirror of water in front of Malaga shine. And it is a good time for their businesses too, which after the pandemic break is now riding the waves.

The D50 has just been presented to society, which at almost 15 meters in length is the flagship (never better said) of this Catalan shipyard that has completed a decade of marketing motor boats with avant-garde design. The company is focused above all on the foreign market (almost three quarters of its production is destined outside Spain), where over the years it has managed to gain a foothold and gain a reputation in the peculiar segment of day boats, it is In other words, those boats designed above all for holiday and summer use, to enjoy the open outdoor spaces.

“We started from scratch and we have achieved it with effort and work. The D50 is the starting point for the next decade”, explains Marc de Antonio. In the short term, the future is going from strength to strength because they have already secured orders until 2024. In this way, if in 2022 sales reached 20 million, by 2024 they will touch almost 39 million, that is , almost double, despite an adverse context due to the increase in the costs of materials and transport.

Its business model consists of manufacturing in Almería and Poland, subcontracting production. The design and conception of the boats, on the other hand, are made in Barcelona.

De Antonio's idea is to make boats with a groundbreaking and minimalist design, with hidden outboard motors, in the case of the D50 two V12s with 600 horsepower each that allow a cruising speed of 35 knots to be reached. Its maintenance is easier and they hardly generate noise. The boats are driven with extreme simplicity and maneuvering in port can be done with the help of a joystick as if we were in a video game. That is, they aspire to capture a broad audience.

In the medium term, the company wants to upgrade and plans to build an even bigger boat, this time adapted for vacations throughout the year and for more intensive use, where life can also be carried out inside.

The company is also exploring the path of electric motors, in the smallest range, although the market is still testimonial. The course, in any case, is set.
