A unique combination of moped and electric bicycle with custom inspiration

The unstoppable proliferation of personal mobility vehicles and electric urban vehicles sometimes makes it difficult to catalog or classify any of them. This is the case of the new Sunra Miku Retrolax, a worthy representative of this new batch of models with complex cataloguing. Is it a bicycle or a moped? In reality, both things, since it was born as a combination of different trends to respond to the tastes and needs of a new generation of users who prioritize, mainly, style, accessibility and connectivity.

The Retrolax is a bike... And also a motorcycle, because it merges the best of both worlds for emissions-free travel in the city. The driver has up to five forms or driving modes at his service to be able to use this vehicle as a 100% bicycle and move forward solely by using the pedals; or treat it like a moped only accelerating using the gas control; although he can also use one of the three remaining combinative modes that allow the user to move with assisted pedaling, to minimize physical effort.

The new Miku Retrolax adapts to the external conditions and capabilities of the driver, transforming, at will, into either of the two types of vehicles or a fusion of both, with the aim of becoming an interesting means of individual transportation to progress without effort every day in the dense city traffic. But what makes this new creation from the Asian firm really special and what most captures the attention of those who see it for the first time is its groundbreaking and well-kept retro appearance inspired by chopper motorcycles.

Built around a striking high-quality and lightweight aluminum and magnesium alloy chassis, it has unmistakable custom details such as the high "hang on" style handlebars, the wide fat-bike tires of 24 inches at the front and 20" at the rear with aluminum alloy spoke wheels, or the wide brown leather single-seat seat clearly inspired by Bobber.

It is equipped with innovative damping with four-arm magnesium alloy hydraulic front fork, braking system composed of 180 mm discs on both axles, lighting with LED technology featuring a powerful Class C round ambient light headlight, key contact less, a 4-inch high-definition LCD screen that allows you to view driving data in real time, and even a luggage rack installed on the rear wheel.

The new Miku Retrolax weighs only 42 kg (without battery) and is powered by a 750W motor that allows it to reach a maximum speed of 32 km/h through a 7-speed transmission from Shimano. Located in the upper part of the chassis, like the fuel tank in traditional motorcycles, the lithium battery that powers it is 48V20AH and offers a range on a single charge of up to 60 km. Of course, it is removable to facilitate the task of recharging into a standard household socket.

Behind this bold mobility proposal is the Chinese firm Sunra, it is one of the main electric motorcycle companies in the world with more than 30 million motorcycles sold over the last five years. Founded in 1999 in China, it currently has a manufacturing capacity of 4 million vehicles per year and a presence in 70 countries. The new Sunra Miku Retrolax is priced at €2,195 and will be available in gray and white.
