A rich car collector's obsession with white Porsches

There are collections of all kinds. There are those who collect mundane objects such as trading cards or stamps and also those who strive to obtain brand name watches or exclusive works of art. But what you probably haven't seen until now is the largest collection of Porsches in the world. The auction house RM Shoteby's has announced that on December 1 and 2 it will auction an incredible lot of up to 56 vehicles from the German team. And the most striking thing of all is that they are all white!

This exhibition, which RM Shoteby's has decided to call The White Collection, brings together in an industrial warehouse, in addition to six dozen Porsche sports cars from all eras, up to 500 accessories from the brand. The owner of the collection that, for unknown reasons, now wants to get rid of, keeps all kinds of posters, accessories, original spare parts and brand clothing along with these vehicles with their immaculate bodywork. The truth is that this bidding is undoubtedly a lucrative business, since Porsche fans who are interested will be able to separately purchase one of the most expensive and sought-after cars in the world for starting prices ranging from $900,000 to $900,000. 2.5 million, depending on the model.

The display of this rich collector does not lack detail, with fully equipped Porsches with very low mileage. One of the most notable is the Porsche 918 Weissach Spyder from 2015, which has barely traveled 20 kilometers since leaving the dealership. This model was purchased by the consignor for $1,028,200, of which $96,000 is just extras. With the newly replaced battery, this car is estimated to fetch a price of between $2.5 and $3 million at auction.

Other models included in the collection are a 911 Sport Classic from 2010, the 911 R from 2016 or the 911 GT2 RS Weissach, manufactured in 2019, whose starting price will be around $900,000.

The White Collection draws on Porsche from all decades. Some of the oldest are a 356 A Carrera 1600 GS de Luxe Coupé by Reutter from 1959 or a 911 Soft-Window Targa from 1967. Among the most expensive are two 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1973, a Lightweight worth 2 million dollars and a Touring with a price of 1,200,000 dollars.

The crown jewels are two models from the 90s. First, a 911 GT2 993 from 1997, which could sell for 2.2 million. Another model that will be auctioned is a 1993 911 Carrera RSR 3.8, whose estimated price is between 2 and 2.5 million dollars.
