Bike rides of up to 30 minutes in duration will continue to be free during the month of January, when a new flat rate of 10 euros per month will come into effect.

As of January 1, the rate structure for annual subscribers and occasional users disappears. All subscribers will now have a basic contract, with free application on all trips of up to half an hour in duration valid until January 31. When the free January period ends, users will be able to contract the monthly flat rate.

The basic contract responds to the pay-per-use philosophy. The trips will cost 0.50 euros for the first half hour or fraction. In the event that the trip lasts more than half an hour, the second fraction of up to 30 additional minutes will cost another 0.50 euros.

From 60 minutes of travel, each half hour or fraction will cost 3 euros. Furthermore, unlike what happened with the previous annual subscription, this contract will not require payment of an annual amount for access to the service in exchange for being able to travel for the first half hour at a price of 0.50 euros.

The service launches the flat rate of 10 euros per month, which offers the advantage that all trips of up to 30 minutes will be free.

If the trip exceeds 30 minutes, the next half hour or fraction will cost 0.50 euros and, if the trip exceeds one hour, the rate will be an additional 3 euros for each half hour or fraction.

It is a flexible contract since this self-renewing flat rate does not require permanence and, once the month has ended, the user can unsubscribe at no cost and can be contracted from the new app in an easy and intuitive way, explained the Consistory.

The new bicimad doubles the number of bicycles and stations it had, from 2,964 bicycles and 264 stations that it had when the implementation began, it now has 7,500 bicycles and 611 stations distributed throughout the 21 districts of the city.

In the almost ten months that it has been in operation "all possible records have been shattered: 6,580,586 trips have been made until December 20 and there are more than 330,000 subscribers," stated the area directed by Borja Carabante.

The new bicimad app is also available, with a new graphic image, in line with the aesthetic renewal of the service. Focuses on the usability of the tool. This bicimad technological expansion and renewal project has been carried out with European financing from Next Generation EU funds, channeled through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
