Xavi travels to Qatar to watch the World Cup

Xavi Hernández, the Barça coach, will be present at the World Cup in Qatar to follow first-hand the developments of his footballers and watch various games taking advantage of the La Liga break and the holidays granted to his players. Specifically, the man from Egar will live two group stage matches live: Spain – Germany and Qatar – Holland. His arrival in the country organizing the World Cup is scheduled for this Friday evening.

The Barça coach has decided to be present in two games that touch him very closely. On the one hand, he will attend Spain-Germany this Sunday (8:00 p.m.), in which, in addition to following the evolution of the eight Barça footballers that Luis Enrique has called up, Xavi will be able to relive in some way what happened in 2010.

In that semifinal of the World Cup in South Africa, he was a great protagonist when assisting Carles Puyol to take a corner kick. The central defender's goal marked the classification of the Spanish team for their first World Cup final, which they would later win against the Netherlands.

Next Tuesday he will go to the Netherlands – Qatar, where he will be able to greet Félix Sánchez Bas, coach of the Emirati team with whom the man from Egar has had a great friendship since he lived there. Sánchez Bas moved to Qatar in 2006 and has held various positions in the Qatari federation, the last as coach.

Xavi lived in Qatar for six years between 2015 and 2021. After leaving Barça he played four seasons at Al-Saad, where he also served as coach between 2019 and 2021.
