3 inches to up to half a foot of snow will be possible Thursday morning and early afternoon in New York to New England.

Behind this storm system, a winter-like air mass is spilling to the southern and central U.S., together with freeze alarms issued for 2 dozen countries.

Temperatures Thursday morning are close freezing in Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia.

The coldest air will go in the East Coast and Deep South Thursday night into Friday morning, where almost four dozen listing lows are possible.

At Giles County, Tennessee, three individuals needed to be rescued from flooding waters after over 4 inches of rain fell in only a couple hours.
