Vox distances itself from a statement condemning the fascist attack on a Casal in Castellón

This Wednesday, before the start of the Les Corts plenary session, its president, Llanos Massó (Vox) will not read an institutional statement to condemn "the fascist aggression at the La Cosa Nostra social center in Castelló" that keeps a 32-year-old young man in the hospital. She will not do so because of her party's refusal to sign the text condemning Compromís, considering it “sectarian and partisan.”

This was explained this Tuesday in the Valencian Parliament by the Vox ombudsman, José María Llanos, who wanted to emphasize that his party “has never exercised violence, it has always been a victim” of it. For this reason, he has indicated, his party rejects “any type of violence” without the need to “put qualifiers” or talk about “specific events.”

Vox is left alone in its positioning since the rest of the groups with representation in the Autonomous Chamber have supported the text. Even the PP ombudsman, Miguel Barrachina, who has shown some disagreement with the content of the expository part, has stated that his training in the face of the “criminal act” experienced during the Magdalena festivities, “will support any conviction and the declaration institutional".

The PSPV also supports the Compromís text as it is in line with what this formation has been denouncing these days after what happened in Castellón. In recent days, the opposition has linked what happened at the Magdalena festivities with the suppression of the Guillem Agulló Award that was awarded against xenophobia and hate crimes agreed upon by the PP and Vox partners.

The content of the statement indicates that Les Corts "condemn the fascist attacks against people who were enjoying the performances organized by the La Cosa Nostra social center and offer all institutional and political support to the victims of the attacks."

Furthermore, the text states that Parliament is against “any type of institutional approval of hate speech”, and declares itself committed to “avoiding the proliferation of these speeches in order to avoid the dehumanization of those who think differently and, as consequently, the trivialization of political violence.” Content that Vox has preferred not to sign.
