Vox again prevents the investiture of Fernando López Miras

The PP candidate to preside over Murcia, Fernando López Miras, fails again in his attempt to obtain a sufficient majority for his inauguration after the votes against Vox. The popular leader this time needed a simple majority, which was possible with the abstention of the far-right party.

After a failed attempt on July 7, López Miras has not managed to convince any party to facilitate his investiture. In this way, the 24 votes against Vox, PSOE and the Mixed Group, represented by two Podemos deputies, and the 21 in favor of the PP have been repeated.

During the investiture debate prior to the vote, López Miras has accused Vox of being "the only one responsible for a possible electoral repetition" and has assured that "nobody understands that they join their votes with those of the parties of the left." I don't think anyone agrees, neither their voters nor ours," he added.

In his ten minute speech, López Miras has addressed the far-right party in a very critical way, warning that "it is not understood that in a blockade of the left, Vox is with them."

Vox, for its part, has justified the vote against its deputies since "the polls said that a coalition government had to be formed." José Ángel Antelo, leader of the far-right in Murcia, has proposed to the leader of the PP a list of twelve agreements to invest López Miras, whom he has accused that he "did not answer" Vox "after three weeks" of the elections.

The vote against Vox does not come as a surprise, after Santiago Abascal declared that only "a blow to the head" would lead Vox to abstain in Murcia if it does not enter the government.

After an unsuccessful second vote, the electoral repetition seems increasingly possible. As of today, a period of two months opens - counting from the first vote on July 6 - to try to reach an agreement that allows the investiture. If no candidate achieved confidence within this period, new elections would be called in the Region of Murcia.

The first reactions to the blockade of the investiture have come from the Popular Party, which through the Twitter account of its general secretary, Cuca Gamarra, has assured that "any vote that does not go to the PP, goes to sanchismo".
