Video games created by TecnoCampus students win the LUDI awards list

The TecnoCampus students have swept the delivery of the first edition of the LUDI awards that recognize the talent in video game creation of higher education students. These awards, promoted by 3Cat with the support of the GameBCN video game incubation program, had the collaboration of Socialpoint and Gameloft Barcelona, seeking to promote emerging talent in the country.

In this first edition, four innovative projects developed by higher education students in Catalonia have been recognized. The participants, among whom are the majority students of the degree in Video Game Design and Production and the double degree in Computer Science and Video Games at TecnoCampus, had to present a playable video game prototype that, in a fun way, promoted the habit of connecting with information daily among those who have not yet acquired it.

The winners in the four established categories were the following. The Socialpoint Award for maximum fun went to the ActualiCat.cat project, developed by students Aroa Ochoa Bardet, Carla Sánchez Armengol, Francesc Torrus Mora and Júlia Ting Castro Sevilla. The Ludis Award for best replayability went to the Redactor Exprés project, created by students David Boces Obis, Juan de Dios Garcia Salguero and Alejandro Giralt Silván. The Gameloft Barcelona Award for accessibility went to the Primicia a la Vista project, designed by students Adrià López González, Guillem Tió Surós, Pablo Fuertes Bayón and Joel Jolis Molina. Finally, the Ludis Prize was awarded for maximum creativity for the Picto Diari project, conceived by the students Júlia Campalans Andreu, Maria Bordera Cugat, Mirokshi Rojas Diaz and Jan Campalans Andreu.

Of the set of award-winning projects, the last one, Picto Diari, created by TecnoCampus students, will be developed entirely by the GameBCN incubator and published by 3Cat. The students responsible for this project will have the opportunity to join the development team. In addition, all students from the award-winning projects have received a trip to Gamescom 2024 or personalized mentoring by professionals in the sector, depending on the award category.

The awards ceremony took place last Friday, December 1, in La Farga de l'Hospitalet, within the framework of the second edition of the Gaming Show (SAGA). The gala, presented by communicators Carla Sevillano and Pep Munta, was attended by the director of Innovation, Research and Digital Strategy, Cristina Villà; the head of Digital Content and Transmedia, Adrià Serra; and the head of Digital Arts and Video Games, Oriol Boira, who announced the winners of three of the award categories.

The director of Innovation, Research and Digital Strategy at 3Cat, Cristina Villà i Fontà, has highlighted that "video games are audiovisual and they are culture" and has reaffirmed the corporation's will to commit to "bringing Catalan to all windows, from our public service perspective.
