The Dutchman Max Verstappen, leader of the Formula 1 World Championship, will start first this Sunday in the Australian Grand Prix, the third of the year, which is held at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne; where the Spanish Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) will start next to him from the front row and the Mexican Sergio Pérez, the other Red Bull, will do so from third place.
The other Spaniard, the Asturian double world champion Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), will start tenth in the third race of the year.
Verstappen, 26, signed his thirty-fifth pole position in F1, the third of the season, by dominating the qualification held this Friday, in whose third and decisive round (Q3) he covered the 5,278 meters of the Melbourne track in one minute, 15 seconds and 915 thousandths, 270 less than Sainz and 359 ahead of 'Checo'.
Alonso, who was one second and 637 thousandths behind - like the previous ones, with the soft tire - will start from the fifth row, alongside his teammate, the Canadian Lance Stroll, who starts ninth in Australia.
