Valencia will install six purple points to fight against sexual violence in the Fallas

The City Council will install six purple points to inform, raise awareness and prevent sexual violence during the Fallas festival. The six points will be installed from March 15 to 19 in locations with a lot of people traffic.

The purple points, which will have a tent with a folding side wall and purple lighting, folding tables and chairs and identifiable signage, will be open from March 15 to 18 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. while on Sant José's day it will be open Open from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. The purple points will be attended by 3 professionals, including social educators, social workers, psychologists, equality agents and equality promoters.

At each purple point there will be brochures from municipal resources such as the Women's and Igualt Space, the Marítimo and Torrefiel-Orriols equality units, the "Taronja sencera" service for the attention of gender violence in adolescence and the Attention Group to Maltrato (GAMA) of the Local Police, among others.

For their part, 65 Fallas commissions and neighborhood and non-profit associations will install purple awareness points on the city's streets this year during the big days of the festival. These falleros points are made up of two or three volunteers from the commission, who have received training in the matter. This initiative gets the Fallas commissions involved in the prevention of crimes against sexual freedom and creates a decentralized network.

On the other hand, the GAMA group of the Local Police will install a van during all the Fallas on Arzobispo Mayoral Street, behind the Town Hall, from where it will attend to any incidents that occur. Likewise, the Local Police will have a vehicle without a police badge that will move from area to area as needed to prevent sexist attacks.
