Valencia will demand on Monday in the Fiscal Policy Council that financing be addressed

The Valencian Minister of Finance, Ruth Merino, will ask next Monday at the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council (CPFF) that the "immediate reactivation of the regional financing reform" be addressed "as an absolute priority" for the Valencian Community.

The Government has not convened this body since July 2022 and is doing so now, according to sources from the Spanish executive, with the aim of informing the autonomous communities of the stability objectives that will serve as a reference to prepare the General State Budgets (PGE) of 2024.

This body, of which the central and regional governments are part, must issue a report prior to the approval of this path of stability, which must also be taken into account for the preparation of the budgets of each of the communities. However, the call has generated discomfort among some autonomies governed by the PP for not having done so before to address regional financing.

Not just the Valencian one. The Balearic Islands, Andalusia and Galicia have also criticized the Ministry of Finance for not including on the agenda of the CPFF the forgiveness of the debt agreed between PSOE and ERC or the reform of the regional financing system.

In a letter sent by the Valencian councilor to the minister last September, Ruth Merino already asked her to convene the CPFF to, among other things, address the financial situation of the common regime autonomies. In addition, she asked for a transitional mechanism to alleviate the effects of underfinancing and not depend on the FLA.
