Valencia reaches the highest temperature in December or January since there are records: 27.7ºC

27.5º Celsius is the highest temperature that has been measured in the city of Valencia at least since 1938 in the months of December and January, as officially reported by the State Meteorological Agency. The temperature was measured at the airport observatory around 3 p.m. today, December 11. The previous record was set on January 28, 2021 at 26.6º at the Viveros observatory.

In this observatory, 27.3º has been reached today, also unknown at least since 1869, as reported by Aemet at 5:30 p.m. today, Monday. In December, the highest value was reached on the 21st of this month in 2019, and 25.3º was not exceeded.

Other significant highs this Monday were the 26.4 degrees that the thermometers marked in Llíria, the 26.2 degrees in Carcaixent, 25.7 degrees in Xàtiva and the 24.3 degrees in Polinyà del Xúquer, in the province of Valencia.

In Castellón, until 3:00 p.m., 22.3 degrees had been reached in Villafranca del Cid, 19.7 degrees in the capital, while in the interior 17.5 degrees in Castellfort and 17 degrees in Morella stand out.

In the province of Alicante, Rojales has registered 26.5 degrees, Alcoi 25.3 degrees, the capital 24.5 degrees, Pinoso 24.3 degrees, Xàbia 23.2 degrees and the Alicante-Elche airport 23 degrees.

Aemet has reported that for today and Tuesday maximum temperatures are expected to be between 8 and 9 degrees higher than normal for these dates and nighttime minimums of 5 to 6 degrees.

Starting on Wednesday, the Atlantic anticyclone will penetrate the west of the continent in a wedge, and colder air from the north will enter through its eastern flank, and with this there will be a normalization of temperatures to values ​​typical of the dates in which we are.
