Valencia is once again the center of the national pre-campaign with acts by Sánchez and Feijóo

Few doubt the importance of the Valencian Community on the national political scene. In fact, the Valencian will be the largest autonomy of those who go to the polls next spring in an appointment -municipal and regional- that will be a good electoral thermometer before the general elections scheduled for the end of 2023.

In addition, the Valencian Community - the region with the largest size and economic weight with a socialist president - has important symbolism for both the left and the right that yearns to recover it and add it to the block of powerful autonomies in the hands of the PP that make up Madrid, Andalusia or Galicia.

In this context, next week the two main Spanish parties will hold important events in Valencia. The one organized by the PSOE, which has chosen the Valencian capital to make the presentation of the mayors of both the provincial capitals as well as cities with more than 70,000 inhabitants throughout Spain, will be especially relevant. An act in which the President of the Government and leader of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, together with the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, and the Socialist candidate for Mayor of Valencia, Sandra Gómez, will participate.

Sources from the Valencian federation explained to La Vanguardia their satisfaction at the fact that the party had chosen again -the 40th Federal Congress that re-elected Sánchez as secretary general was already held in Valencia- for a "powerful" act that will be the pistol shot exit of the municipal and regional elections of 2023.

In addition, focusing the focus on the city should serve to give a boost to the complicated challenge of Sandra Gómez of fighting with Joan Ribó for the command rod of the Valencia City Council. Despite the fact that at the national level there could have been some doubt about the suitability of launching the young councilor back into the battle for the Mayor's Office, the truth is that the PSPV has always defended the commitment to Gómez.

In fact, in the congresses that have served to test internal support, the current municipal spokesperson has had no internal response and has established herself as a benchmark for the party in the city.

If Sánchez will be in Valencia next Saturday, December 17, the president of the PP, Alberto Nuñez Feijóo, will disembark on Valencian lands one day before. As explained by the leader of the popular Valencians, Carlos Mazón, the Galician president will be at Feria Valencia next Friday the 16th at a rally in which the formation intends to "defend a great community -in reference to the Valencian Community- and a great country".

Mazón explained that the act will serve to show the opposite position of the PP before "the changes to the letter" of the Penal Code. "It is not possible to allow that a Penal Code is being pardoned and changed for those who not only want to break Spain, but also speak of Alicante as a capital of the Catalan Countries," Mazón pointed out.

As a critic and formula for wearing down the Botànic, the PPCV has made the national agenda its own and has brought to Les Corts issues that are debated daily in the Congress of Deputies.
