Union elections in the bank: CCOO wins but Fine surpasses him in CaixaBank

The bank union elections for 2022 and 2023 have concluded with a new victory for the CCOO, which has been the main force since 1986, but also with Fine in first position in the entity with the most employees in the country, CaixaBank, and in the whole of the old savings banks.

Of the 2,700 union representatives in the banks and in the old savings banks, CCOO has added 865, compared to Fine's 796 and UGT's 526. These two unions are located very different from the rest, among which CIC, CGT and FIB stand out. Despite the workforce cuts in recent years, banks employ more than 170,000 people in Spain.

Among the old savings banks, more than half of the representatives correspond to CaixaBank, in which Fine has won, with 397, compared to 298 for CCOO and 175 for UGT. In Unicaja, CCOO (87) has surpassed Fine (78) and UGT (61), while in Abanca the victory has gone to CCOO (59), ahead of UGT (63) and Fine (48).

In all the old savings banks, Fine is the one with the most representatives, with 32.7% of the total, compared to 29.3% for CCOO and 20.1% for UGT. On the other hand, CCOO wins among conventional banks, with 34.6%, compared to 22.3% for Fine and 17.2% for UGT.

In Santander, the CCOO has an advantage, with 171 representatives, over Fine, which has 140, and UGT, with 117. CCOO almost triples Fine's result in Sabadell, with 132 compared to 41, a figure lower than the 48 obtained by UGT. In other banks such as ING, Deutsche Bank or UBS, with much smaller staff, the number of representatives is reduced.

Elections were held yesterday in Unicaja and Ibercaja, thus concluding a process in which the banks have been immersed since November. Among credit cooperatives and rural banks, CCOO has added 317 representatives, compared to 154 for UGT and 49 for Fine.
