The early morning of December 26 was especially intense for the Generalitat Firefighters and the Badalona Urban Guard (Barcelonès Nord), who had to intervene in the fire of up to ten garbage containers in different parts of the city. According to the mayor, Xavier Garcia Albiol, the local police made two arrests.
The first of the containers that the Firefighters describe caught fire shortly after one in the morning until the ninth, which was put out at 8:45 in the morning. The subsequent investigation by the Urban Police located two individuals, one of them of Moroccan nationality, of whom Albiol assures on his Twitter account (now Spanish. The latter, a repeat offender who “enters through one door and leaves through another,” says the mayor.
For the Badalona City Council, the burning of containers is a problem that is perpetuated due to the laxity of the legislation against multiple recidivism. The case of a resident of Sant Roc is well known, who has been arrested dozens of times and imprisoned dozens of times, who mocked the police after burning containers in the neighborhood. Each of these deposits has a cost of 1,000 euros for the municipal coffers.
