Twitter begins to pay content creators: first figures and conditions

Twitter has announced that content creators will begin to receive, within a maximum period of 72 hours, payments from their monetization program, through which they receive part of the income generated by ads in their publications on the social network. However, this option will only be available to those who are subscribed to Twitter Blue, the monthly payment method that offers some advantages.

Elon Musk thus complies with a commitment that he announced five months ago, but that he never finished realizing. "In a few weeks X/Twitter will start paying creators for ads served in their responses. First block payout is $5M," he tweeted on June 10.

With this program, content creators can earn a share of the revenue Twitter collects from the revenue generated by replies to tweets they share that include an ad. This is part of its "effort" to "help people make a living directly on Twitter," as the platform explains on its Help Center page.

But not all users can monetize their content. First, to be an "eligible" content creator, they must be a Twitter Blue subscriber or a verified organization. They must also have at least five million impressions on the publications shared in the last three months. In addition, the account must be approved by "human review" of the Monetization Standards for Creators.

Twitter has not released the amount it will pay each user for the number of impressions their comment receives. It is known that the income payment "will be cumulative" from the first time he reported on this option in February, according to the tweeter chief.

The first quantities have been known thanks to the users. The senior editor of The Verge has shared a screenshot informing him that he will receive a payment of $9,546 (around 8,500 euros). The founder of Dogecoin, known on the platform as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, will receive a payment of $37,050 (around 32,991 euros to change).

The journalist Brian Krassenstein, with more than 700,000 followers and some of his tweets with more than a million views, assures that the social network has paid him $24,305: "I will never tweet for money, but if Elon wants to give it to me, I will never reject it" .
