Tribute to the pioneers of broadcasting

Ràdio Associació de Catalunya started this Tuesday some of the actions it has organized as a tribute to the pioneers who in 1924 founded the Asociación Nacional de Radiodifusión and EAJ1-Ràdio Barcelona and, later, EAJ15-Ràdio Asociación, EAJ18-Ràdio Girona and EAJ42-Radio Lleida.

The objective of these activities is to make known who were those who made the arrival of radio broadcasting to Catalonia possible, "as well as the obstacles and pressures of all kinds that they suffered in the midst of a very turbulent political context," the organization advances. a statement.

On February 19, 1924, a group of engineers and businessmen founded the National Radio Broadcasting Association (ANR) and launched EAJ1- Ràdio Barcelona. In January 1933, this association changed its name to Ràdio Associació de Catalunya. Most of those founders - when they were forced to disassociate themselves from Ràdio Barcelona - launched EAJ15-Ràdio Associació in 1930, EAJ18-Ràdio Girona in 1933, and EAJ42-Ràdio Lleida in 1934, plus a collaboration agreement with EAJ33-Ràdio Tarragona in 1934. They are the engine of radio broadcasting in Catalonia and Spain. Very little has been said about them and now Ràdio Associació de Catalunya wants to remedy it.

During this September, the dissemination of the profiles of these pioneers will occur through the official accounts on the cooperative's social networks (Instagram, X and Facebook). This personal presentation will be combined with facts that already in September 1923 are notable for the launch of Ràdio Barcelona with the labels

The selection of specific profiles - there are more - has to do with the role that each of the characters has in the operation of Ràdio Barcelona and Ràdio Associació de Catalunya. The campaign will put faces to them and help them get to know who they are: Saint Noble, Eduard Rifà, Pau Llorens, Josep M. Guillén Garcia, Enric Calvet, Pau Abad, Teodor Garriga, Enric Huet and Rosalia Rovira.

They are characters motivated by technological innovations who are part of a unique group of entrepreneurs. The descriptions are accompanied by images, some of not very good quality, but which are worth showing to try to recover them from oblivion.

This is a first informative step of what the planned actions will be. In October, Ràdio Associació de Catalunya will present the projects that will be carried out throughout 1924.

The centenary celebration already has an associated corporate image, a logo that combines the waves and the Wi-Fi symbol as a metaphor for the transformation that radio consumption has experienced in 100 years. Those pioneers established a line of success that begins with Ràdio Barcelona, continues with EAJ15-Ràdio Associació (with the territorial network of Ràdio Girona, Ràdio Lleida and the agreement on Ràdio Tarragona) and, already in democracy, in 1984 with RAC 105 within the group of the then Corporació Catalana de Ràdio i Televisió and from 2000 with RAC1 and RAC 105 in RADIOCAT XXI (Grupo Godó).
