Trees fallen like bowling pins due to drought

With this series of photographs in La Vanguardia Readers' Photos I want to show the worrying situation that is occurring with the pine trees that are falling dead due to the drought in Sant Llorenç del Munt.

The drought, which has persisted in Catalonia for many months, not only worries us people, but also the plants and trees. In fact, it is scientifically proven that they make warning sounds when they are thirsty for water.

The weakness experienced by trees due to the persistent drought occurs in the different forests of Catalonia, to a greater or lesser extent depending on the amount of rain that has fallen in one territory or another.

In the Barcelona area, for example, it is becoming especially noticeable in natural areas such as the Collserola Park, the Montseny and, in this case, in the Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac Natural Park, where we find an oak forest. , white pine, oak and hazelnut.

In addition, it is pierced by more than 300 caves and peaks. Neolithic and medieval archaeological remains abound among farmhouses, vineyard huts, ice wells and fountains.

The main summits of Sant Llorenç del Munt are Montcau and La Mola, where the monastery of Sant Llorenç del Munt is located, at 1104 meters high.
