Together they cover up the Borràs case and again threaten ERC with leaving the Government

"There is no debate and we will not change our position." The general secretary of the Junts, Jordi Turull, aired yesterday in a few words the pressure that the ERC and the opposition exert to solve the "Borràs soap opera", despite the fact that, in theory, it was one of the issues to be discussed at the meeting of the executive commission of the party, yesterday in Girona.

The expectation about the possible decisions in this regard was maximum, fueled by the latest controversies that have surrounded Borràs this summer, such as what happened in the act of homage to the victims of the 17-A attacks -which many leaders of Junts– but Turull dispatched him by transferring the pressure from ERC.

The Republicans, from the party's spokesperson, Marta Vilalta, to President Aragonès himself, summon Junts to look for a replacement for Borràs "the sooner the better" to put an end to the interim role of the second institutional figure in Catalonia, but the postconvergents rule it out : "That they do not transfer to us a problem that we have not generated", aired Turull.

The post-convergence leader, accompanied by the leader suspended from her duties, recalled that the appointment of the president of the Catalan Chamber is part of the government agreement with ERC. But instead of addressing this urgency, Junts chose to terminate the audit on compliance with the government agreement and make the conclusions public: "We cannot continue like this," he announced.

In the exam, Junts approves the Executive in the sectoral sphere – the work carried out by the different departments – but fails it in the “national axis”. The perception, according to Turull, is that we have entered "a dynamic that moves us away from the goal of the legislature of 52%: complete independence."

Given this result, the party agreed yesterday, "unanimously", to try to reverse the lack of progress in the constitution of a collegiate leadership of the independence movement and in the "strategic unity" in the Congress of Deputies.

A month is given, until the general policy debate that will take place in Parliament between September 27 and 30. Together they will present proposals to “complete” the independence that they hope to agree on with the ERC and the CUP and they expect signs from President Aragonès of his willingness to follow that path.

After the debate, JxCat will meet its executive again to decide the next steps. In this way they keep their continuity in the Government up in the air, which will be debated with the militancy. That is, everything remains the same until further notice.

But although ERC and Junts do not want to, the Borràs case will continue. The main opposition groups direct their gazes at the Republicans, asking them for "political courage" to replace the president of Parliament with another person and to do so before September 15, after the Diada, the Socialists limit.

The commons consider that ERC has "the key" and "has to be activated" to "open a new stage in Parliament". While the PSC asks not to transfer "the constant fights" that the partners have in the Government, to the Parliament" and that "normality returns" to the Chamber, claimed the socialist Elia Tortolero.

Both parties offer themselves to the ERC to oust Borràs in a parliamentary vote based on a precept of the Chamber's regulations overwhelmed by doubts. “If ERC chooses that path, and not that of being complicit with fanaticism, they will have us by their side”, promised the spokesman for the commons Joan Mena. And the PSC assures that "there are articles" to force the substitution of Borràs.
