Throw in Pedro Sánchez, from Valencia

The PP wants to simplify the framework of the campaign for the regional and municipal elections of 28M to almost a single idea, with the essence of a dilemma: "To throw Pedro Sánchez or not." In the territory that I know best, Valencia, it is difficult for other messages on real problems in matters such as health, education or infrastructure to compete with the aforementioned motto, "throw Pedro Sánchez or not". Simple, forceful, direct, mobilizing, aggressive and seconded by thousands of haters present in the digital space. A motto, moreover, in a personal key, assumable for those who prefer not to discuss truly political initiatives. The central ecosystem is so powerful that, for example, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the biggest opponent of the President of the Government, is more present in the Valencian campaign than Carlos Mazón or María José Catalá, candidates for the Valencian Generalitat and the Valencia City Council. And no one better than Ayuso symbolizes the desire of the PP to "throw Pedro Sánchez away".

This is not what the Botànic wants, and even less Ximo Puig, who needs to limit the electoral campaign to the framework of the Valencian debate to solidify the chances of success with a comparison exercise exploited by the Valencian president: "Either Gürtel or Volkswagen". Significant efforts have been made, sometimes using the Government's grievances as an excuse: regional financing, investments, the Tagus-Segura transfer, as examples. But the framework exported by the PP, and by its powerful media actors, threatens to overshadow the ingredients of a Valencian campaign in which not even Compromís has yet managed to impose its story, beyond some flashes directed at the Government for the aforementioned grievances. . A framework aggravated by the crisis of the left to the left of the PSOE, making Madrid, understood as a political entity, the center of all things. The madrileñización of the policy, also the autonomic one, is a reality - one day we will have to consider the collaboration of the means in this effort-.

Pedro Sánchez does not seem to feel uncomfortable with this framework, he even encourages it. He has wanted to turn this 28M into a plebiscite, "or Feijóo or me" is the idea, without worrying - do you care? - The consequences of this strategy in other latitudes, such as in the Valencian regions. Some Valencian PSPV strategists comment that Sánchez only cares about the municipal elections, where he believes he feels strong and, in the worst case, he is only interested in the presidency of the Government. "He is a president who acts as president and little as general secretary of the PSOE," they comment. For this reason, when he comes to Valencia and offers a rally together with Ximo Puig, he does not send any message of support for Ximo Puig in those demands that the Valencian president poses to him to solve already structural problems in the Community, such as financing. "To shoot Pedro Sánchez or not" is a challenge in which Pedro Sánchez feels comfortable.

The Valencian campaign, which officially begins next week, may thus end up hijacked by the main message that is already flooding the entire Spanish geography: "shoot Pedro Sánchez or not." With a mobilizing effect on the PP and Vox electorates, who have made the objective a priority, and with the risk of demobilizing those who value proximity, regional or local politics, as a necessity, as an obligation of a political class that Sometimes it seems lost on the periphery in front of the figures that, like Isabel Díaz Ayuso, have occupied all the state, regional and local leadership.

The hypothesis is already known. The Valencian 28M will have many consequences in Spanish politics: for Pedro Sánchez, for the future pact between Podemos and Sumar, between Pablo Iglesias and Yolanda Díaz; for Alberto Núñez Feijóo in his struggle to prevent Ayuso from taking the leadership of the party from him, for Ximo Puig in his desire to continue presiding over the most important autonomy for the PSOE. The PP knows that more than Madrid, an autonomy in which it can reach an absolute majority, the Valencian Community will finally be the piece that, if won, can accelerate the decline of Pedro Sánchez and prevent him from revalidating the presidency of the Government. For this reason, "to shoot Pedro Sánchez or not" is also, despite everything, the dilemma that has been installed in the Valencian campaign.
