This is the trailer for 'Joker: Folie à Deux', a sequel in the form of a musical

As director Todd Phillips had been announcing, this Wednesday the trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux was published, a sequel to the successful Joker installment released in 2019. This second part will feature the stellar appearance of Lady Gaga, the renowned singer who in In recent years he has also made a name for himself in Hollywood for his performances in some series and films.

Joker: Folie à Deux continues the path started by the first film, for which Joaquin Phoenix won his first Oscar for best actor, and reinterprets the concept of the superhero feature film to the extreme.

In the 2019 film we were offered a different look at what we knew about Batman's archenemy, Arthur Fleck, a man violated by his life and by his environment. A story of aggression, humiliation and the channeling of trauma through madness. This twist occurs when it makes us reflect on whether a villain can become a hero, a salvation for many.

This sequel, which will be released in October of this year and stars Phoenix himself and Lady Gaga, has been classified as a musical. When presenting the trailer, Todd Phillips described his latest production as "a film where music is an essential element," adding that in this sense the new Joker "is not much different from the first."

From what can be seen in the trailer, we see Arthur (Joker) meeting Harley Quinn in a psychiatric facility where they were admitted, before the two plan their escape. Other sequences show them dancing romantically on a rooftop in the moonlight and wreaking havoc across Gotham City.

Several film experts have highlighted Warner's strategy of releasing the film at a time when the situation itself could place it at the top of the lists and well positioned to receive awards. No major releases are expected for autumn, it coincides with Halloween - and therefore with flocks of people dressed as Joker and Harley Quinn - and they intend to premiere it in Venice, thus raising the prestige of the film.
