This is how the Velodromo Bar will celebrate its 90th anniversary

The Velodromo Bar on Muntaner Street has just turned 90 years old and offers a series of activities to celebrate, starting with a special menu designed by Alkimia's chef, Jordi Vilà, and executive chef Albert Mas. Through nine dishes, it will consist of a journey through the history of Barcelona that will fuse the Catalan gastronomic heritage with innovative techniques.

These proposals can be tasted in individual dishes and will be available from December 1 until next summer. Ravigote oysters, Rossini lasagna, truffled bikini croquettes or Perellada rice are some of the preparations that will make up this menu and that will try to be a reflection of each of the decades that the establishment has lived through.

The launch of a fresh, unfiltered limited edition beer in collaboration with Moritz is another of the actions that will be part of the celebration of the 90th anniversary of this house. It is a review of the beers that were served in the origins of this establishment with new nuances that bring it to the present day and will be sold starting in February.

Recently, this bar also sports a logo commemorating the 90th anniversary, a creation that covers a large part of its iconic stained glass windows and that, through vintage-style lettering, recovers the tradition of brush lettering with traditional techniques. It is the work of the graphic artist Adrián Pérez, whose work is characterized by highlighting this artisanal work that is being lost.

Finally, the Bar Velodromo will take to the streets in spring, when it will celebrate its anniversary with the residents of Passatge Lluís Pellicer, because it has been "thanks to the local public that this house has become an icon of Barcelona." Currently, this establishment that Moritz bought in 2000 for its rehabilitation, is one of the few examples in the city of a typical place from the 1930s.
