The union Unidad Sindical Platform (PSU) has denounced through a statement the public dissemination of the personal data of all the workers of the Badalona council (Barcelonès Nord) showing the names, surnames and salaries, also of some politicians. Information that continues to spread through social networks.
The events date back to December 4, according to the PSU, as a result of the procedures carried out by the Department of Human Resources for the approval of the 2024 municipal budget. The information was accessible to everyone until the error was detected and corrected, however the document, in Excel format, has spread like wildfire on social networks.
The municipal government assures that it was an error by a "totally involuntary" official who was immediately removed the moment it was detected. The City Council is preparing the mandatory reports that will be sent to the City Council's Transparency delegate. Once assessed, it will be determined if any action is taken.
The document details in alphabetical order the category of officials, job position, level and destination, name and surname, basic salary plus supplements, contribution and financial allocation. It also details the economic perception of the municipal spokespersons in the opposition and that of the advisors of the municipal groups.
The PSU assures that this is a very serious incident that violates the Data Protection Law. For this reason, they have initiated a complaint with the Catalan Dades Protection Agency (APDCAT) and demand that the City Council investigate the causes of the leak, remembering that the previous week problems were already detected in the opposition tests to the Guàrdia Urbana. "It is evident that there is a problem and that someone is not fulfilling their duties," they say. The union offered to initiate a financial claim for the damages caused.
