They investigate a pediatrician in El Ejido for allegedly drunk patients in the ER

She went with her daughter to the Poniente de El Ejido University Hospital, in Almería, and ended up alerting the Police that the pediatrician who was treating them could be drunk. The doctor has been removed from the service of the center and a reserved investigation has been initiated that could lead to some sanction for the doctor.

The events occurred in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday, according to the Ideal newspaper, when the mother detected that the doctor allegedly smelled of alcohol and that he was not fully competent, he was about to "fall on them."

According to this newspaper, the doctor rebuked the girl and threw a rate of one gram of alcohol in blood, once the breathalyzer tests were carried out by the Local Police.

Sources from the health center have lamented "the situation experienced this weekend in the Pediatric Emergency Service" and have insisted that "an exhaustive review of the medical records of all patients who went through the affected consultation is being carried out, without detecting any anomaly or incorrect diagnosis for the moment".

Part of the management team of the center held a meeting with the affected family on Monday morning, to which "apologies for what happened and all the actions carried out have been reported promptly."

Sources from the El Ejido City Council have confirmed to EFE that agents of this body went to the health center "at the request" of this woman, who denounced "irregular behavior by the doctor, who was treating the minor with symptoms compatible with drunkenness."

Thus, they have indicated that the police officers remained in the hospital until 04:00 hours on Sunday after verifying that "no patient was in danger, as well as that there were no altercations."
