The Firefighters have located this Monday at noon a lifeless body on Illa del Galatxo, a small islet in the Ebro river, near Móra d'Ebre (Tarragona). This is the 32-year-old man who fell into the water at midnight on Saturday and disappeared in the area of the Móra la Nova pier, according to sources from the Mossos d'Esquadra consulted by Europa Press.
During Sunday and this Monday morning, a device from the Fire Department has carried out a search in the area. The tasks scheduled for this morning consisted of an investigation along the course of the river, intensive investigation along the banks, and aerial reconnaissance. From a boat used for superficial search, one of the dogs has reacted to passing through the island of Galatxo, an area of thick vegetation and waters prone to eddies. There, the troops have glimpsed a body, pending identification.
The Bombers have marked the site so that the Mossos d'Esquadra troops can carry out the investigation of the facts. Members of the aquatic police unit have removed the corpse after carrying out the usual procedure and have transferred it to the Móra la Nova pier to be picked up by the funeral home.
The underwater units of the GRAE, the canine unit, a helicopter, land units of the Fire Department and bodies of the Mossos d'Esquadra have participated in the search operation. The Local Police and the Medical Emergency System (SEM) have also been dispatched to the location.
