They demolish the first wall of the Three Chimneys

Next Wednesday, April 19, is the scheduled date to start the demolition work on the wall of the Tres Chimeneas enclosure on Calle Eduard Maristany between Badalona and Sant Adrià de Besòs (Barcelonès North). The work will have a cost of 720,000 euros and it is expected that it will end in mid-September.

With a contribution of 720,344.5 euros from the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), next week the works will begin to start the setback of the perimeter wall of the Three Chimneys that reduces the Eduard Maristany street to nine meters wide, so the vehicles are forced to circulate interspersed by traffic light regulation.

The new road will be 20 meters wide and will have two lanes for vehicle traffic and wider sidewalks. To do this, 178 meters of the wall will be demolished, of which 158 meters are in the municipality of Badalona, and a smaller one will be built 14 meters from the street, which will provide new sidewalks, a bike path and a new area. wooded. In the same way, lighting and sewerage will also be renewed.

With the start of the work, which has accumulated a year's delay, the agreement between the municipalities of Badalona and Sant Adrià de Besòs materializes with the company Front Litoral, the temporary union of Endesa and Metrovacesa to promote the Three Chimneys project .

One of the main fears to promote the work, like all those carried out on the southern coast of Badalona, is the possibility that the land is contaminated. In this case, according to Miquel Díaz, representative of Front Litoral, the area has already been subjected to a decontamination process validated by the Catalan Waste Agency, for which he ruled that "in this area there is no contamination."
