These are the three best bravas in Barcelona

The bravas at Bar Marcel Santaló, a tapas place in Sarrià that began its journey in the 1950s and is now owned by Salvador Vendrell, are among the best in the city. The recipe from this establishment has won the Audience Award in the contest dedicated to this specialty that was organized last weekend within the framework of the Mahou Bravas Fest, in Poble Español.

This traditional bar, where they also make other dishes such as salad or fried artichokes, belongs to a family closely linked to the world of restaurants. At the age of 18, Vendrell took over this business on Santaló Street with his mother, whose terrace is full even during the week.

Last year, the same award that this establishment received went to Bar Tomàs, also in Sarrià, whose bravas are among the most applauded in the city.

Influencer chef Rafa Antonín and La Semproniana cook Ada Parellada were part of the jury that had to choose the winner of another of the contest's awards, the Jury Prize. In this case, it was for Hamburguesería Acero, with premises on Carrer de l’Espaseria (Born) and Carrer de Robrenyo (Sants).

Their bravas are made with monalisa potatoes, from which the skin is not removed, which are fried in two batches and served with three different sauces. In the last edition, the winner of this recognition was Señor Vermut, on Provença Street, which incorporates this distillate into the sauce.

Finally, the Honorary Award of the competition went to Bar Córdoba, in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. This place is located in the La Farga shopping center and also serves classic tapas such as fried eggs, squid and fried morro.
