These are the brands and supermarkets that have sold the tortilla linked to the botulism outbreak

Cases related to the botulism outbreak associated with Grupo Palacios packaged tortillas continue to increase. At the moment, five people have been poisoned after ingesting these products, and another two could be confirmed that present similar symptoms.

Those affected are distributed throughout various parts of the country, including Madrid, Valladolid, the Valencian Community, Galicia, Asturias and Andalusia. Some have even required an ICU admission. Botulism is a rare but serious disease that affects the nervous system. It can cause difficulty breathing, muscle paralysis, and even death.

Despite the fact that the Palacios Group has withdrawn from sale the products contaminated with the Clostridium botulinum bacteria and has voluntarily stopped manufacturing them, the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has asked the communities to verify that the tortillas are no longer being sold.

The poisonings have occurred in different places because the products have been sold in numerous supermarkets and under various brands. Grupo Palacios advises not to consume them and, in the case of having them at home, return them to the point of sale where they were purchased, where a refund will be made.

The updated list of supermarkets and brands that have sold the affected tortillas was shared by AESAN yesterday afternoon. They are the following:

Grupo Palacios has made available to the client a telephone line with the number 941 27 77 00 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the email palacios@palacios.es "to clarify any doubt or concern".

On the other hand, consumer organizations such as Facua have asked AESAN to "redouble its efforts" in the investigation; Its spokesman, Rubén Sánchez, has urged Efe to "clarify the origin of the outbreak as soon as possible" and has indicated that "obvious" that any tortilla of the brand should not be consumed "as a preventive measure regardless of whether or not they were affected".
